The Nikonos IV is a little larger than Nikonos III, but a little lighter. It is manufactured out of aluminum, covered with a black mat non-skid painting. Its resistance allows a use without problem up to 50 meters of depth.
This IV-A is an automatic with priority with the aperture. The barrel of selection of the mode has four positions: With for the automatism that we have just evoked of the 1/30 to the 1/1000 second, with a speed of synchro at 1/90 with the Su-101 associated flash; M for the selection of the mechanical speed of 1/90 (thus without batteries) and for any underwater flash; B for the pose, mechanics and R for disengaging before rewinding.
The lenses are interchangeable. The standard lens is the W-Nikkor 2,5/35 mm. There are three other lenses with Nikonos bayonet. The former objectives of Nikonos can continue to be used on this new model.
The viewfinder enlarge 0.5 times. It is with collimated frame. Its adjustment (- 1 dioptrie) makes it possible to centring with a diving mask in front of the eyes.
